Acrylic on unstretched cotton canvas, primed with acrylic primer.
Description:
Initially painted on the ship on return to Australia, and originally contained a twisting form at the bottom of the canvas
(in a Homage to Verdun theme). Finally, the bottom section was cut off and canvas stretched.
The pale pink background was constructed with beam-like intrusions running vertically.

The two main vertical beings; central containing blue, white, grey and yellow set up a strangely powerful force with the red beam on the right-hand each. The pale pink space assisted effect.
Masking tape is used to arrive at clearly defined bands; being vertical meant that any irregularities on the edge of more obvious (and more disturbing) than if the painting was viewed horizontally.
